Dear Terry,

I was listening this morning to your comments about PROM. I have a teenager and the consensus among guys/ girls is to go stag with a group of friends. You have a better time, save money and in the process promote great memories.

For the records my prom date was a friend who hand't come out of the closet yet. We went and had the best time because we could be friends, ourselves and just cut lose. To this day I have fond memories of being treated like a lady, and being with someone who I cherished as a person, and as a friend. He is now in a committed realtionship and I always wish him the best.

He was a perfect gentlemen and treated me like I was a princess. I will always love that about him.

GO PROM.

Terry,
I heard you talking about Prom. I went to prom about six years ago, and I have to say I actually agree with Newman! I know....can you beleive it? When I went you found a date, but you still went with friends, and had a great time! I (like Newman) didn't have the best night of my life since the friend I went with was telling people how the night was "going to end!" Well, I hated that night, but still look back on it as a great experience because you learn to still have fun and make a great night out of a disaster. Because of that experience my friend and I had, we actually became stronger friends, i have continued my friendship with him, and just recently met another good friend of his. This man I met will be my future husband and it is all because prom built such a strong bond between my friend and I. Once you go through that, you never regret it, and I think everyone should have that experience, whether it be the night of you life or a learning experience. No matter what, you will never forget it!

Hi Terry,
I didn't want to spend my hard earned money on a dress and dinner. So I had the after prom party and spent the money on a keg. But back then the drinking age was younger and schools didn't offer the after prom party with prizes. But you are correct when you said all the kids go together as friends.. My daughter when by herself but had her picture taken with just all the guys.

Hi Terry
I couldn't agree more. I sat home the night of both my junior prom and my senior ball; there was definitely no going with friends in the 70s. What was even worse, my little sister went to my proms. I watched my older daughter grow up and it was like watching a clone of myself...lots of friends but no real "special" person. I was THRILLED to put her in a limo with those friends for her prom and see her have a great time.
