He’s home and all is well!!!
I headed to Niagara Falls after work Friday to collect my son and his belongings and bring him home for the summer. This was the plan, I’ll pull up, Mark and his buddies will load my car and while they are doing that, I will sweep up a bit so his room is clean will pass the “exit” inspection. Ya right. I could not believe my eyes when I walked into that room. I swear, that child never picked up a broom for the 10 months he occupied his room. I don’t think he ever changed the bed (although he claims he did several times) and the dust was inches deep on every surface. I was spraying, wiping, sweeping and trashing like you can’t believe. By the way, I wasn’t alone; the Dad across the hall was none to pleased with the condition of his son’s room either. I was just happy with the fact that I never had to live there, not for 1 minute of 1 day. Well, all is well, his “RA” signed off on his room, he’s home and I am thrilled! There is nothing like having everyone home again, ya, the lights burn a bit longer, the food bill goes up, doors open and close at all hours but there are no empty spaces at the dinner table. The chicks are back in the nest and I am a happy camper!!! Enjoy your summer with those seasonal smiling faces at your dinner table. It’ll fly right by and it won’t be without a few bumps and bruises, we’ll compare notes in late August!!!

Terry — you sound like my Mom. The words “dust safari” were used when I lived in the residence halls during undergrad. Apparently we have a different level of cleanliness at college than at home.
